System requirements
- Mac: macOS 13 Ventura or later, on an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later).
- Windows: Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- An AI model: a key or plan from a provider Scaff supports, or Ollama for a free model on your computer. See which models work.
Install
On a Mac
- Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Scaff into Applications.
- Eject the disk image, then open Scaff from Applications.
- The first time, macOS asks you to confirm an app from the internet. Scaff is signed and notarized by Apple, so confirming is all it takes.
On Windows
- Run the downloaded .exe.
- If SmartScreen says “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Finish the installer. Scaff installs for your account, in the folder you choose.
Updates
Scaff checks for new versions on its own and installs them when you restart; Settings → About → Check for updates checks right away. Your projects and settings stay where they are. If Scaff ever can't start, it opens a repair window that installs the latest release over your copy. See what changed in each release.
